Wounded Warriors
The Next Mission
Wounded Warriors/Emerald Junior Golf Association offers year round programs for all wounded warriors and juniors who want to learn to teach the game of golf and improve their quality of life. One of our main goals is the interaction of wounded warriors and juniors to teach life lessons and help the juniors develop character and integrity.
The Wounded Warriors/ECJGA strives to build confidence in every Wounded Warrior and junior participant by supporting them with positive reinforcement. Our program would never allow negative influences to stand in the way and emphasizes that a disability or golf scores never determine what kind of person one is.
The Wounded Warriors/ ECJGA will develop a golf training program for the Wounded Warriors and juniors thru the principles of Golfing Machine which include tapes of the juniors playing the game and then discussing their challenges and dreams. Our program will include teaching the fundamentals of golf, expanding participants’ life choices, improving physical fitness of the participants, improving social skills, creating positive peer relationships, encouraging self-sufficiency, improving participants’ decision making skills, and strengthening participants’ critical thinking skills.
One of the primary goals is to teach life lessons thru the Wounded Warriors to help juniors develop character and honesty. These lessons go both ways where the wounded warriors feel self importance and gratification thus increasing their self esteem.
It is difficult to establish links between what is taught and what is actually learned, let alone retain in such a way that is positively and significantly changes long term behavior. It is highly positive that junior golf programs like the Wounded Warriors/Emerald Junior Golf Association will take steps to introduce anyone who wants to participate to fulfilling recreational experiences and enrich their lives. Research has shown that junior golf yields positive short and long term outcomes for its participants.
The Wounded Warriors/Emerald Coast Junior Golf Association believes that the wounded warriors and junior golfers can accomplish much more than they can imagine. It is about removing barriers that they set for themselves and moving toward an efficient way of teaching, practicing, learning, and playing. Our program helps develop a base competence for the future of one’s game; teach how to practice, what to practice, and how to transfer that learning to the golf course; and develop skills that integrate the physical, mental, and emotional parts of the game.
The Wounded Warriors/ECJGA believes in not setting goals for wounded warriors and juniors – that we would have them set their own goals. This idea ties to the belief of intention vs. attention. Our intention is for the wounded warrior and youths to enjoy the game of golf. This will not happen if we set the goals for the juniors. Instead, we will focus on keeping their attention.
This helps to explain why much of the research of junior golf programs is inadequately designed, and insufficiently controlled. Junior golf should promote valuable skills that promote for both skills for the Wounded Warriors and juniors with behavioral, social, self esteem and academic benefits. This is the major goal of the Wounded Warrior/Emerald Coast Junior Golf Association.
The Wounded Warriors/ECJGA will apply and be taught the principals of the Golfing Machine whereas the Relationships in the golf stroke can be explained scientifically only by geometry because geometry is the science of relationships. The golf stroke involves two basic elements the geometry of the circle and the physics of rotation there are only two basic strokes hitting and swinging the geometry is the same for both
